Not according to their definition, anyway

2019-02-01 16:07:25 UTC

Was that person black might I ask?

2019-02-01 16:07:29 UTC

This logic is actually more poisonous than it sounds because all the racists have to do is point out that they aren't in power....

2019-02-01 16:07:42 UTC

@Akona I couldn't tell you one way or the other

2019-02-01 16:08:06 UTC

I know he wasn't white, but this is a friend of mine who told me about him

2019-02-01 16:08:23 UTC

Regardless - it's still racism no matter what angle it comes from.

2019-02-01 16:08:51 UTC

It's no more acceptable than if a white guy refuses to serve Asians, or whatever

2019-02-01 16:09:53 UTC

Yea true. I was just gonna say that black people tend to make that claim often. As a black person you hear that stuff all the time “it’s not racist if they are white”- stuff like that

2019-02-01 16:29:03 UTC

That sounds a lot like the same old rhetoric you get with every supremacist "It's okay when we do it!" lol

2019-02-01 16:29:33 UTC

I'm hoping that at some point people may learn that it's never okay. Or, maybe, just stop pretending it is.

2019-02-01 16:51:21 UTC

It’s absurd

2019-02-02 04:45:51 UTC

Women utilize “violence” in other ways.

2019-02-02 04:46:51 UTC

Well it's not really the same convo, but in nonreciprocal domestic violence women are the ones who perpetrate it more often, even if when men do they tend to cause greater injury. So I can see that being true

2019-02-02 05:03:13 UTC

I think this was a good post that was fairly overlooked/missed

2019-02-02 08:24:47 UTC

I think people can be too quick to redefine feminism, rather than recognise that many people are badly representing feminism and aren't actually feminists.

People are not what they say they do

2019-02-02 08:26:24 UTC

It's what they do

2019-02-02 08:27:48 UTC

Karen Straughans had a brilliant answer on the 'not real feminists' line of defense.

2019-02-02 08:31:07 UTC

You cannot let feminist and feminist organizations make outrageously sexist laws and policies against men and when called out, claim that they aren't 'real feminists'

2019-02-02 08:45:03 UTC

This is exactly what I was worried about when I told people that feminists would act like they had always been onboard with male issues to score points for their movement. They did the same thing with gay rights - after opposing them for years - and they now act like they had a big hand in securing them. Which they didn't.

2019-02-02 08:45:49 UTC

They absolutely will co-opt our issues wherever the tide turns against them, and they will do it shamelessly.

2019-02-02 08:46:59 UTC

And then they will continue as normal.

2019-02-02 08:47:34 UTC

This is why it's important to smash feminist rhetoric and protest feminism itself.

2019-02-02 08:48:05 UTC

If we don't, Male Suicide will just become another talking point for #HeForShe

2019-02-02 10:10:14 UTC

Feminists aren't some hive mind

2019-02-02 10:10:30 UTC

It isn't fair to be against feminism as a whole

2019-02-02 10:10:56 UTC

Women need support just as men do

2019-02-02 10:11:20 UTC

Being against feminism is not being anti women

2019-02-02 10:11:39 UTC

I do hate the way some people will ignore the issues of men in order to promote feminism

2019-02-02 10:12:06 UTC

And I'm against misandrists of course

2019-02-02 10:12:49 UTC

Being against feminism means being against what feminism had done and continues to do

2019-02-02 10:13:16 UTC

They give a rats ass about men's issues

2019-02-02 10:13:38 UTC

It feels like an overgeneralisation

2019-02-02 10:14:54 UTC

Everything they had done for men is "teaching them to cry more and combating toxic masculinity"

2019-02-02 10:15:04 UTC

You can check menslib if you want

2019-02-02 10:15:40 UTC

Almost all of their activism centers among combating toxic masculinity and teaching men to cry

2019-02-02 10:16:05 UTC

Do you think that a person can be a feminist as well as an MRA?
