I would certainly attempt to keep Orthodox Church as it is, with hierarchies and beliefs, just without intervention from worldly forces and get rid of the cockroaches within.

Then the disenfranchised people would seek refuge with the Church.

Besides, with Christianity not tainted by corruption, more people would turn to religion, hence the government would have more difficulty passing bad laws unimpeded.

media can just demonize vast majority of people and organised activists and lawyers with money behind them can neutralize any remaining opposition

I believe that Christianity's message, as opposed to the media's message, is inherently constructive and will prevail even with media opinion against it
