In 2014 we were still coming out of winter then, it was really rough.
It was a full moon event, and at extremely low tide
He snuck past firewatch, removed all his shit, pretended to be a fleet Marine off duty/in normal Marine uniform, even got stopped by BC for not wearing a P.T belt while on a bicycle he stole and got past. This was around 4-5 AM.
It was still dark, once he got to the main road outside of P.I but, before the gates he waded through the swamp. Got to a bus station in Beaufort around 8AM.
That's pretty clever.
A preacher at the bus station stopped him, asked if he was in trouble. He'd ditched his cammies in a dumpster and took clothes from outside a goodwill/charity shop that were outside.
He said yes, preacher bought him a bus ticket.
We know all this because I was in PEB and met this kid, he came back to P.I and got chaptered out after the military came calling his house over and over. Basically they called him and asked for the mother, his dumb ass answered - they asked if it was him and he turned himself in via the phone.
