what I do for movies and TV watching is,
have a server on 24/7, has it downloads automatically torrents that I drop in a shared folder
and on the same server I have a couple of hard drives filled with media, accessible by chrome cast,
and use my phone as a remote using "videostream for chromecast",
on the phone is a list of all the media on my server..
even my GF, who is kind of computer illiterate, can use it from her phone
