every single one of them at one point in time was a gov funded operation

google just says it is a share that includes more voting rights

eg a class b share is one vote, class a is more than one

so u have a and b for same stock

actually the classes are a, b and c

class c = stock trading value only

class b = stock trade with dividends(profit sharing)

class a = voting rights plus class b status

voting rights means u have stockholder voting rights on the board of directors for the co the stock represents
