Do i need calipers to put my sights back on? I don't have any experience in replacing irons

2018-12-27 18:22:21 UTC

Get a sight alignment tool

2018-12-27 18:23:07 UTC

Also ccing with an rds isnt that bad just replace your batteries regularly and mark on your calendar when you replaced them

You don’t need a sight alignment tool, it can be done with a vise, a small hammer, and a brass punch

2018-12-27 23:21:27 UTC

Center it up using a ruler, verify at the range.

any y'all here own a G43? the rifle not the glockcock. Just picked one up the other day and I had to reinstall the safety and after installing it with a new retention clip the safety switch lever thingy fell off. I got it back on with little issue but I don't wanna get my first piercing from the safety when I shoot this thing

Friend, that’s not a very common rifle. I would go to /k/ with plenty of pictures, or seek out help from someone with more specific knowledge. I hate to be that guy, but I don’t think you’ll find your answers here.

That, and you gotta flex on the rest of /k/, you own a fucking G43.

2019-01-07 04:33:25 UTC

Recommending /k/ as a source of information.

2019-01-07 04:33:28 UTC

Seriously?

2019-01-07 04:34:41 UTC

It’s that, Reddit, a gunsmith, or books. I simply provide options, it’s up to him to take a course of action.

2019-01-07 04:35:27 UTC

If you know a gunsmith with experience in C&R, it's been hit or miss for me

2019-01-07 04:36:32 UTC

I've only met one who can help me with a Ross restoration and he only knew of it from a relative, although the G43 might have more luck

2019-01-07 04:37:10 UTC

There are plenty of other milsurp resources, forums, etc

2019-01-07 04:42:21 UTC

Fair.

2019-01-07 05:01:09 UTC

I'd say Facebook groups tbh

2019-01-07 05:01:20 UTC

Specialized milsurp groups are fine

2019-01-07 05:36:12 UTC

They’re very helpful sometimes

2019-01-07 05:36:32 UTC

Meme page admins if they’re really specific

2019-01-07 05:36:58 UTC

Caseless G11 Memes knows a fuckload about, you guessed it

2019-01-07 05:37:15 UTC

And I have gotten a shitload of enfield help from the guy behind enfield memes

2019-01-07 05:37:36 UTC

He flexed his No.1 Mk.5 at me

2019-01-07 19:28:48 UTC

Imagine my shock, people with enough autism to make a meme page about a specific gun are autistic for that gun.

2019-01-07 23:45:00 UTC

Much appreciated for the help fellas. Did some lookin around and the whole safety falling out is a fairly common issue with the rifle.

2019-01-08 21:31:45 UTC

@Benjammin Franklin Post pics of the rifle pls.
And your others too.

2019-01-09 01:14:37 UTC

i have kar 98 too

2019-01-09 01:14:40 UTC

one sec

2019-01-09 01:20:49 UTC

Kar98 has matching numbers on bolt and receiver as does G43 but the Kar98 has the proof marks scratched out. Bought it for $800. G43 has cost me almost $2700 and I ain’t even got the damn safety to stay on it yet

2019-01-09 03:03:12 UTC

Ok but you have a G43

2019-01-09 03:03:32 UTC

bow before him for he is a canonized wehraboo saint

2019-01-09 03:06:58 UTC

10/10 would literally beat you to death with a shoe for G43.

2019-01-09 03:45:40 UTC

Ditto

2019-01-09 03:46:13 UTC

They might beat themselves to death and eat expensive ammo

2019-01-09 03:46:18 UTC

But hooo boy

2019-01-09 03:46:39 UTC

Muh selbstladengewehr

2019-01-09 17:18:33 UTC

Fun fact, the G43 was purpose built for the cold. In cold weather the fixed gas port makes it operate flawlessly, but all you have to do in temperate or hot weather is change the bolt spring.

2019-01-09 17:19:09 UTC

Another fun fact, the G43 uses a *carbon copy* of the SVT's adjustable gas port.

2019-01-09 17:19:39 UTC

So you can literally replace it with a repro SVT adjustabl gas port and it's a perfectly functional all-weather rifle.

2019-01-09 17:41:51 UTC

And it won’t snap beat itself to death then?

2019-01-09 17:45:02 UTC

Nope, just remember to change the bolt spring or adjust the gas regulator.

2019-01-09 17:45:10 UTC

Y'know, basic considerations
