If your rifle can tackle North American large game (Moose, Bears, etc.) you can and will defeat the shit out of body armor. Maybe not NIJ IV, but I don't think that's even a thing yet outside of prototype plates.

Also of note, defeating body armor doesn't necessarily require penetrating it. A shotgun slug has really shitty penetration, but it will shatter your ribcage in to very fine shrapnel regardless.
