Tracked vehicles are honestly shit

Unless you plan on running off road constantly

And even then you're probably better off with a wheeled APC

They're a LOT easier to maintain while having similar ground pressure.

I have an opportunity to purchase either a Gewehr 88/05 or a Turkish updated Berthier forestry carbine

What would you pick and why?

The 88

Berthiers are cool but they just don't do it for me

The 05 is spitzer cut
