I kinda want a 10mm MechTech carbine for the lols

2019-01-14 00:52:44 UTC

Already have the 9mm for plinking

2019-01-14 01:12:45 UTC

I'd kinda like a carbine chambered in something ballistically similar to .30 Carbine.

2019-01-14 01:13:54 UTC

So .300blk

2019-01-14 01:22:01 UTC

.500 S&W is the superior cartridge

2019-01-14 01:22:31 UTC

@FireRising 357 Mag or just get a PC9 in .960 Rowland

2019-01-14 01:23:51 UTC

You mean like this @FireRising ?

2019-01-14 01:24:02 UTC

If I had 500 to spare I’d buy a PC9 and a Holosun

2019-01-14 01:24:20 UTC

the lack of .357 sig carbines makes me <:Angry:483456053808463882>

Dude makes lvl IIIa armor out of fiberglass. 30$

2019-01-14 01:42:09 UTC

He didn't test it to spec

2019-01-14 01:42:13 UTC

And for the love of god

2019-01-14 01:42:15 UTC

Fibreglass

2019-01-14 01:42:23 UTC

Do you want fiberglass, in your body

2019-01-14 01:42:39 UTC

The NIJ tests armor against a solid backer.

2019-01-14 01:42:55 UTC

A simple piece of 1/2" plywood will appear to stop 9mm

2019-01-14 01:43:20 UTC

As the plywood itself being *fucking launched* can absorb enough momentum to stop

2019-01-14 01:43:33 UTC

Doesn't mean if you tape it to your chest it's IIIa

2019-01-14 01:43:43 UTC

I think I will just pay the $99 for real lvl IV.

2019-01-14 01:47:42 UTC

Don’t πŸ‘ cheap πŸ‘ out πŸ‘ personal πŸ‘ protective πŸ‘ gear

2019-01-14 01:47:50 UTC

^

2019-01-14 01:49:38 UTC

If you're gonna make your own use real fucking kevlar like I do

2019-01-14 01:53:26 UTC

Don’t πŸ‘ cheap πŸ‘ out πŸ‘ personal πŸ‘ protective πŸ‘ gear

2019-01-14 01:59:09 UTC

Do you research, buy something quality within your means

2019-01-14 01:59:37 UTC

VEE SEE PLS

2019-01-14 07:27:54 UTC

imma go purchase me a ruger mk iv tomorrow feelsgoodman
just gotta get a tax stamp to suppress it

2019-01-14 07:28:59 UTC

also fibreglass is nice for hardening structures and shit, like lining a section of wall or something
but it does bad things to you if it fragments into your body

2019-01-14 10:33:27 UTC

I mean, if its fragmenting into your chest, dont you have additonal bigger problems to worry about.

Like bullet wounds?

2019-01-14 10:34:11 UTC

Or that the BFD needed for serious spalling would entail your chest being caved in

2019-01-14 10:34:48 UTC

Otherwise the fiberglass "spall" would just get caught in your carrier.

Also I never said it was an amazing idea. Just gets the noggin joggin.

2019-01-14 10:36:15 UTC

Personal plates are lvl 4 ceramic w/spall liners.

Buuut im in the army now so i just get gov plates and kevlar.

2019-01-14 10:37:04 UTC

I'd like to see a proper NIJ test battery on that $30 plate.

2019-01-14 10:38:26 UTC

Someone should. Id watch.

2019-01-14 10:38:33 UTC

@Demoranch

2019-01-14 10:39:57 UTC

You'd need 14 plates total for a single threat test

2019-01-14 10:40:08 UTC

14 more plates for each additional threat

2019-01-14 10:41:09 UTC

Okay, so NIJ III and IV standards are as follows

2019-01-14 10:41:54 UTC

III: 9 panels, 6 shots per panel. 4 panels for ballistic limit testing, 4 panels for BFD testing, one spare.

2019-01-14 10:42:45 UTC

IV: Enough panels to get 24 BFD test shots and 12 ballistic limit test shots, 1 spare.

2019-01-14 10:43:01 UTC

If you only want single-shot IV protection, you need 37 panels total

2019-01-14 10:44:16 UTC

Then you take the rest of the 14 panels and condition them with water and cold and shit, then run the same tests.
