which has both its pros and cons
shhh, use small words
it looks like an avant-garde museum piece
bluing is not 'rust'
It’s a a copper powder that is applied and selectively oxidized
what is rust bluing for $500
Rust is Fe2O3 you fucking retard
(The copper patina)
its red oxide, and it eats the metal
Blueing is entirely different chemically, and it is a desireable surface finish
Stubbs needs some educatin
^
dont talk shit to me about metallurgy you fucking brainlets
well
only iron can rust
iron is the *only* metal that can rust
oh shidd, we got some galaxy brains in here
The biggest of brains
the others 'oxidize'
A blued surface is Magnetite you fucking mongloid
jk
how dare you assume my race
Bluing is a passivation process that involves having at least two brain cells to rub together
Wow that thumbnail is cancer
yup
yup
rust is damage, blue is good. Entirely different.
Essentially, rust bluing uses an acid solution to rust the steel in a controlled environment. Boiling the rust converts the red oxide to black oxide which constitutes the metal finish.
fuggin science
how does it work
🤔
acid bluing is a shit finish
Wait
Weren’t you just calling us liars?
cold bluing is shit also
lmao
Salt blue and rust blue and case hardening
@Sadmin I got a write up because of you at work
Also phosphating is one of my faves
