you could get a navy conversion

2019-01-31 21:45:24 UTC

but those .308 chamber plugs are iffy

2019-01-31 21:45:49 UTC

The ones the CMP sells?

2019-01-31 21:48:18 UTC

not sure what the CMP is selling

2019-01-31 21:48:46 UTC

maybe they are re-barreled with criterion barrels

2019-01-31 21:56:19 UTC

How much would a cmp garand that’s in decent/pingable condition cost?

2019-01-31 21:57:15 UTC

I’ve never done milsurp stuff but I’ve always kinda wanted to have an old garand I can shoot occasionally.

2019-01-31 21:59:32 UTC

I’ve got a local gun shop that has a garand from the early 50’s that appears to be in almost new condition, that has a new cmp stock on it. They’re asking 1199 for it but I couldn’t spend that kind of money on something until I know more about garand a and CMP.

2019-01-31 22:03:31 UTC

That’s reasonable for a Garand, especially an IH one

2019-01-31 22:04:02 UTC

Most 50’s contracts went to International Harvester for some reason iirc

2019-01-31 22:05:39 UTC

Some to H&R

2019-01-31 22:06:55 UTC

Most people packed up tooling by the

2019-01-31 22:06:59 UTC

Then

2019-01-31 22:07:53 UTC

Also most garands were made within a 60 mile radius of Springfield which is kinda bad if they got nuked

2019-01-31 22:08:13 UTC

Evansville isn’t anywhere closer to Mass.

2019-01-31 22:22:03 UTC

The owner said he was convinced it saw action in Korea but was surprised about how good of condition it was in. No pitting or anything.

2019-01-31 22:22:18 UTC

lol typical boomer garand seller

2019-01-31 22:22:36 UTC

I just don’t really do the milsurp thing so I have no idea. Yeah see that’s why I take it at face value.

2019-01-31 22:22:59 UTC

Like. Boomers gonna worship that kinda thing.

2019-01-31 22:23:02 UTC

Oh god never buy the story

2019-01-31 22:23:11 UTC

Of course not lol.

2019-01-31 22:23:34 UTC

Boomers sell stories because they convince themselves every German pistol is the one Hitler killed himself with and ever mosin is simo’s

2019-01-31 22:23:59 UTC

They actually have a Finnish mosin there too. Lol

2019-01-31 22:24:14 UTC

I bought my enfield and me and the seller figured it saw combat or at least hard training considering the external condition

2019-01-31 22:24:16 UTC

"I knows what I got"

2019-01-31 22:24:19 UTC

Still got her for 480

2019-01-31 22:24:30 UTC

Which considering typical No.4 prices here isn’t bad at all

2019-01-31 22:24:53 UTC

if that Finn mosin is more than $450, and isn't an M39, hard pass

2019-01-31 22:25:03 UTC

They want 600 for that Finnish m91.

2019-01-31 22:25:38 UTC

Looking at milsurp you want a few things:
Action/bolt and barrel condition,
Overall finish remaining
Wood quality,
Matching parts

2019-01-31 22:25:52 UTC

With manufacturers etc being ancillary things collectors worry about more

2019-01-31 22:26:09 UTC

Oh god an M91 Finnish or not is a 300$ gun or so

2019-01-31 22:26:11 UTC

Yeah, I get that. I doubt I’ll ever buy a mosin seeing how many are overpriced.

2019-01-31 22:26:18 UTC

Maybe 350

2019-01-31 22:26:33 UTC

Just buy a 91/30 when you see it at the correct 200$

2019-01-31 22:27:06 UTC

I wouldn't even buy an SKS for $350 when basic bitch ARs can be had for less than $500 if you buy the parts from PSA on sale.

2019-01-31 22:27:17 UTC

Yeah lmao

2019-01-31 22:27:25 UTC

M91’s are collector’s nugs

2019-01-31 22:27:43 UTC

That is, if we're talking simple utility.

2019-01-31 22:27:57 UTC

The M39 is the fancy man’s nug, and the 91/30 the common scum

2019-01-31 22:28:21 UTC

@Reichtangle so an IH garand would go for 1200 if it’s in really good condition?
