I see what you're saying Runes, but both of those guns do fit what he's asking for. Besides, don't Canucks have a limit on the number of weapons they can have?

2019-02-04 18:53:10 UTC

I am pretty sure with my license there'd be a limit on how many I have

2019-02-04 18:53:30 UTC

And I am very interested in the bolt action design

2019-02-04 18:54:04 UTC

Get a .22 then milsurp

2019-02-04 18:54:35 UTC

Just get a 10/22

2019-02-04 18:55:06 UTC

@Darn I’d recommend an AR-15 to be honest

2019-02-04 18:56:04 UTC

Is that the civilian sporting rifle version?

2019-02-04 18:56:13 UTC

Simple to maintain, parts are everywhere, along with mags and ammo

2019-02-04 18:56:31 UTC

Yeah

2019-02-04 18:57:08 UTC

My first gun was a M&P-15 1.0 with no forward assist and with a brass deflector

2019-02-04 18:59:14 UTC

Thanks for the suggestions guys

2019-02-04 19:01:35 UTC

In a following note, which of these shops are reputable :
1.) Bass pro shops
2.) Firearms outlet canada
3.) Buds gun shop

2019-02-04 19:02:55 UTC

These are the shops that are practical for me to visit (along with a few small local stores). What are your opinions on them?

2019-02-04 19:09:10 UTC

@Darn you have your regular PAL correct? So you’re limited to non-restricted stuff. No limit to how many you acquire as long as you store them properly.

2019-02-04 19:09:52 UTC

@Wilkie Thank you for pitching in, I assume you're a leaf?

2019-02-04 19:10:14 UTC

Most dude bros up here will state that the SKS is the quintessential first gun to buy, as they’re cheap as fuck and fun to shoot.

2019-02-04 19:10:18 UTC

Yep, from Manitoba

2019-02-04 19:10:46 UTC

And *reliablish*

2019-02-04 19:11:31 UTC

Alright, I think Darn is in good hands here. We have a few other Leaves on here, @Reichtangle and @GhostPhail are the ones who come to mind immediately.

2019-02-04 19:11:36 UTC

Enjoy your stay.

2019-02-04 19:11:40 UTC

@Wilkie that is correct

2019-02-04 19:12:16 UTC

But if you’re looking to hunt or do anything practical with it there are better options obviously

2019-02-04 19:12:17 UTC

Thanks alot for the help guys I really appreciate it

2019-02-04 19:12:26 UTC

Anytime

2019-02-04 19:12:36 UTC

I'm just looking to get a few shots off at a range

2019-02-04 19:14:12 UTC

Yeah. Nothing wrong with a nice non- bubba’d SKS then.

2019-02-04 19:15:58 UTC

From what I am seeing online the Russian surplus SKS rifles seem to be the cheapest. Is there anything wrong with that?

2019-02-04 19:17:19 UTC

Know that our laws are absolutely retarded when it comes to things like ARs. One can own an AR easily with an RPAL, the licence that allows one to own a “restricted” firearm, but you can only shoot it at an established range. On the other hand you can get several firearms that are like ARs, like the XCR which are non-restricted for some reason, so you can hunt with them or do whatever..

2019-02-04 19:17:47 UTC

As far as I know the Russian ones are your best bet, but I’m not an expert on the SKS

2019-02-04 19:18:10 UTC

ain't it yugo ones that are best?

2019-02-04 19:18:17 UTC

Yugos aren't chromed.

2019-02-04 19:18:34 UTC

You **must** clean them after every shooting because of this.

2019-02-04 19:18:51 UTC

I'm assuming that designated ranges are quite sparse

2019-02-04 19:18:59 UTC

There are lots and lots of Norinko ones around Canada as well.

2019-02-04 19:19:08 UTC

Chinese Norincos are decent from what I hear.

2019-02-04 19:19:34 UTC

Since you guys are canadians, which stores do you guys recommend

2019-02-04 19:20:07 UTC

I do most of my buying from Wolverine Supplies

2019-02-04 19:20:57 UTC

Coolio

2019-02-04 19:21:15 UTC

And Red Deer Shooting Centre.

2019-02-04 19:21:35 UTC

How are the larger sporting shops like Cabela's and bass pro

2019-02-04 19:22:29 UTC

Rampart and CTC Supplies are great too. I wish I had a list handy.
Cabela’s is ok I think. Haven’t been to one in years
