Is defacing old mil surp really an issue

My toaster is doing fine. She recently died her hair pink and I actually like it.
I never cared for the bright hair color stuff, but she's happy with it and looks nice so

@Mangy yes and no. I wouldnt even call my cap military surplus coz it's not Gov't issue, but I'd rather not actually deface something that has history.
