The posture might be to reveal the adrenal glands from under the rib cage. THe bent over backwards spreads the ribs wide and exposes all the organs - so what are they after? One cut across would reveal both adrenal glands that are positioned on top of the kidneys. ea sy position to pull any intestines away - not sure quite how the layers go.
