It is hard to not give into your primitive brain (system 1). It's main goals are reproduction, survival and avoiding pain. System 2, your neo-cortex where your higher cognitive functions lie, knows what's best for you and sometime the good things hurt or make you scared but in the long term they will benefit you in ways system 1 could never achieve. Focus on self-mastery and the rest will come.
