@Roko It doesn't matter what the market does, you can make money in a bull or bear market, up or down. Raging or Recession. Foreign or domestic.

2019-02-25 23:04:11 UTC

The most money is made when markets crash. You just need to understand how it works.

2019-02-25 23:04:16 UTC

@MufflePuff Correct, I'm highly uninformed about the subject though, so that's why I'm bitter and prefer to just hold cryptocurrencies

2019-02-25 23:04:18 UTC

You'd have to find the right market to do that. Good luck.

2019-02-25 23:04:29 UTC

@Roko I agree with you however the market has always grown at about 10% average per year since inception.

2019-02-25 23:04:44 UTC

Start learning young. Just like anything.

2019-02-25 23:04:57 UTC

Learn something that will pay your the rest of your life.

2019-02-25 23:05:14 UTC

Whatever it is, chances are it's on the internet.

2019-02-25 23:05:15 UTC

I buy and hold high dividend stocks. Once I learn more, I'll invest elsewhere. I own 1% in BTC.

2019-02-25 23:05:22 UTC

@secrite You can earn a lot of money this way. A lot of companies will pay you 100k a year in subscription fees if you have something that saves them more than that or makes their life easier. If you can make a product essentially free for someone due to the savings you generate, you will sell

2019-02-25 23:05:39 UTC

Yes!

2019-02-25 23:05:48 UTC

@MufflePuff Have you had other names here?

2019-02-25 23:06:07 UTC

It's Mufflepuff til death, sir.

2019-02-25 23:06:09 UTC

I am working on a simple fraud detection system currently and will try to sell to a large security company.

2019-02-25 23:06:25 UTC

If it doesn't work out, it's on GitHub added to my resume!

2019-02-25 23:06:30 UTC

I lose nothing.

2019-02-25 23:06:41 UTC

@secrite That's worth gold. You need to apply Machine Learning though

2019-02-25 23:07:28 UTC

Make it a simple system where they can enter their data and the system automatically predicts whether an unseen case is fraud or not and the percentage of confidence. You could make this in a week if you want. Main problem is how to secure the data though

2019-02-25 23:07:55 UTC

I need to learn ML.

2019-02-25 23:08:33 UTC

I am making it in golang with Bolt DB so I could add an abstracted file system that is encrypted.

2019-02-25 23:08:42 UTC

I don't know how that would work with ML though.

2019-02-25 23:08:45 UTC

I will look into that!

2019-02-25 23:10:06 UTC

Lookup a support vector machine for your problem

2019-02-25 23:13:59 UTC

Good tip! I am googling what the fuck that means now.

2019-02-25 23:14:09 UTC

Do you work in the ML field?

2019-02-25 23:14:29 UTC

It seems like an awesome field but I feel I wouldn't code/build as much. I feel it would be mostly analyzing stuff.

2019-02-25 23:15:53 UTC

Yes I do, and it's not that hard. The hardest part is getting the data

2019-02-25 23:16:16 UTC

It seems like a lot of data cleaning 😄

2019-02-25 23:16:23 UTC

Yes

2019-02-25 23:16:36 UTC

Do you find it very challenging/rewarding?

2019-02-25 23:16:54 UTC

Does it feel like it would take you a lifetime to truly master since it's evolving so quickly?

2019-02-25 23:17:14 UTC

I love that about "software engineering".... now that I don't want a family/kids, a really challenging career seems ideal.

2019-02-25 23:17:52 UTC

I can't really complain. Today I test drove a model S from 2017. Autopilot is glorious and is the reward that I seek. Besides that it's enjoyable to see something not as static as you would get from programming anything else. It's like magic at times...and it earns a lot 😉

2019-02-25 23:18:14 UTC

That's beautiful!

2019-02-25 23:18:26 UTC

I bet! I hope you're making 125k+

2019-02-25 23:18:32 UTC

It's the last job that's going to be left. And yeah I do

2019-02-25 23:18:48 UTC

I think trades/nursing and other jobs will always exist.

2019-02-25 23:18:56 UTC

I agree it will be huge though.

2019-02-25 23:19:32 UTC

I am already pushing towards the micro-service/SaaS development so if I focus on ML I could build out a MVP quickly.

2019-02-25 23:19:46 UTC

Do you suggest a specific resource for learning ML?

2019-02-25 23:19:53 UTC

I saw datacamp a while ago and it seems solid.
