The difference is that people assume other will fight for a moral cause, while being self-serving. Systems like communism are more willing to put a gun to your head, because its just another human violation on top of the pile.
@Deep Fried Jesus Correct, people always assume someone else will do the right thing. Ironically this is the reason why deeply multicultural systems tend to fail. Lots of small groups looking out for themselves.
Out of left field again, but It's interesting to hear Jack Dorsey talk about more and more decisions that used to be down by humans getting offloaded to machine learning algorithms. He even states that the algorithms they use can't tell you why it does something. The age of AI is truly upon us
