I read somewhere that he's based off of Shatner's character from Star Trek (I know nothing about Star Trek)

well, it is kind of obvious that it's a parody of that

one time Billy West said "I based his voice off of those big dumb radio DJs from the 1950s" but I think he was supposed to sound like Lionel Hutz from the Simpsons.
Supposedly Phil Hartman was intended to voice him but he died in 1996

Star trek was a lot of fun, even though it is unrealistic

I've never been into it, my dad however loves it

There is no way a democratic countrie could colonize any other planet

you need to watch it

it has a more left-wing politics vibe, but it mostly doesn't seem like it's trying to push it on it's audience

also don't watch the newest one, watch the Orville instead. it's basically TNG.

I remember really enjoying the ones that I've seen

if I could make the TV show of my dreams it would be a MadTV reboot but better
