but as i started to mature and realize everything is fucked, i got back into all of it and more
but now its cool and trendy to be a "weeb" because its funny and dank meme.
Hey @[chase dreams] How i can post in the music hangout?
***Fortnite....more like fortshite***
Lemme check
I was goth cuz I was trying to get the closest thing to cyberpunk I could afford. I went to a majority black school so I literally never fit in as a white goth kid
dont feel like you have to fit in. if you dont know all the anime references other people do, who cares. if you dont follow sports, who cares. just figure out whats right for you and meaningful, then once you figure it out, act. dont give a fuck about other people
White goth kid ? Tfw
Never heard of that term lmao
I hope you're trolling lol
@felldie1496 you can now post in the music room
@[chase dreams] Thank you so much dude.
growing up, my mom (single parent, no father) and teachers all said i had "potential" and i was wasting it. i just stopped giving a shit about a lot of things and started to really reflect on what truly has value and what is shit that everyone else just attributes value to.
@felldie1496 no problem
you have "potential." potential to what, be just like everyone else and do what everyone else does? it's a meaningless thing to say
Potential doesn't mean shit. Skill and talent does.
Funny how every parent and teacher says to every kid "You have potential"...what kind of potential exactly ? 😂
It's meant to encourage you to keep excelling in whatever you did or are doing that they are praising.
Jesus
to go to college, get a shit degree, wear a button down shirt just like everyone else, and make self-depicrating jokes with your wife just like everyone else.
And don't let any other failures tell you that talent is given to you by god or you're born with it or some horseshit.
Talent and skill come with trying and practice.
Wrong
Well isn't the definition of talent being born with that ability ?
Skill is basically hard work.
Some people are obviously gifted or talented compared to others
a lot of "talent and skill" comes indirectly. things like stress control, how you were raised for the first 3-5 years of your life, etc.
also genetics and variation
The first 0-7 years of the kid and genetics pretty much define what you will be good at in the future because ***biology***
I don't think so. Hard work betrays none, but dreams betray many.
Hard work helps you chase your dreams. Lol 😉
talent comes from the understanding of something that comes naturally to you due to your way of thinking
skill is built by learning the rules that make something stand
Working hard alone doesn't assure you that you'll achieve your dreams. Actually there are cases where you don't. But working hard and achievieng something is some consolation at least.
@[chase dreams] that's like saying the name of the movie in the movie
Lmao
CUT MY LIFE INTO PIZZA, THIS IS MY PLASTIC FORK!
OVEN BAKING, HEAVY BREATHING!
DONT GIVE A FUCK THAT ITS CARBS THAT IM EATING!
CUT MY WIFE INTO PIECES, HEAD HIT WITH TWO BY FOUR
So I have a scene, as I interview [Bill] Russell at his home on this, and after a while I said, "Do you think you are a genius?" And he said, "No, I don't, but for many, many years, I remembered every play of every game that I ever played." So that's in his mind, that trap. That's special. That's not the normal person. That's not the normal player. That's not the normal musician, the normal dancer, the normal painter, the normal actor, the normal director ... that's the normal engineer. It's not. Every play of every game. He said the pressure got too much. I had to give that up. But still. And maybe he's not. I don't know what it's like to find and love to find genius, but it's different. It's different. And that scene, there's no verdict. Some guys think, yeah, there's a genius to it. Some guys don't.
@lotodantes fair point.
^ from an interview with Dan Klores, director of Basketball: A Love Story
on a kinda related note, MASTERY by ROBERT GREENE talks about talent & skill
architects, fighter pilots, Michael Faraday, Albert Einstein, athletes, artists, musicians, physicists, swordsmen from history, etc.
