Cause nobody, and I mean nobody is gonna just hire you
You need experience and friends
If you had friends you wouldn't be asking
So ehat
Go to the lame fucking club and gofer
Set shit up
Go to a theatre and ask if they need help
What skills
Audio engineering
Or sound engineering
If you go to shittier venues they may take you
You run events and mix sounds
Don't be a lil bitch
Cause that's what you see doing
And I am speaking from experience, I have known a few guys in the field
@Gabri yeah just ask them what equipment they use act like you know what your doing then look up tutorials on the system
Not finishing school yet? Great you got even more time to network. Start now! Build a portfolio, start working.
No friends... that is literally what the clubs are for. Go there, buy a beer for the guys and start asking to talk shop.
Work on those skills that you will be hired for. Start practicing and learning. If you can't do shit you better have just started this semester. In which case you better be learning.
If you dont like the advice being given, you really need to change fields.
Great
He's right it is totally a connection based industry
do everything we are saying. Work on that portfolio!
A good portfolio is gonna get you hired over your degree.
Then go to a fucking club
Sound is sound
Or are you planning to be a foli artist
Were being harsh on you because we are being honest. This is not a field that you can sit back and relax in.
Go to a club, do for a band
Stupid shit like that. Again I know people I'm the field
That's how they got in
Speak to the backstage guys at concerts and ask to help out
Show you know how to rig the tech
They will give you a chance
What Crappy is saying.. is intern it up.
Better yet, call a company that does it and ask if your degree would get you a job with no experience
^^
And pretty much @Kragt but you have an advantage cause being a gofer sucks
So offer to do it and ask to do more
Chat to the tech on the board
I pointed him to the TFM vid about that, but I know he hasn't had time yet.
But you start at the job you want and work backwards from the requirements.
You dont start at the degree and ask what can I do with this? You start at the job and say what do I need to do to get this?
Shit like that is your way. A degree is great but in this case it's the cherry, not the ice-cream
