Cause nobody, and I mean nobody is gonna just hire you

2019-01-11 20:34:45 UTC

You need experience and friends

2019-01-11 20:34:56 UTC

If you had friends you wouldn't be asking

2019-01-11 20:35:02 UTC

So ehat

2019-01-11 20:35:11 UTC

Go to the lame fucking club and gofer

2019-01-11 20:35:22 UTC

Set shit up

2019-01-11 20:35:31 UTC

Go to a theatre and ask if they need help

2019-01-11 20:35:56 UTC

What skills

2019-01-11 20:36:20 UTC

Audio engineering

2019-01-11 20:36:27 UTC

Or sound engineering

2019-01-11 20:36:29 UTC

If you go to shittier venues they may take you

2019-01-11 20:36:33 UTC

You run events and mix sounds

2019-01-11 20:36:39 UTC

Don't be a lil bitch

2019-01-11 20:36:45 UTC

Cause that's what you see doing

2019-01-11 20:37:14 UTC

And I am speaking from experience, I have known a few guys in the field

2019-01-11 20:37:15 UTC

@Gabri yeah just ask them what equipment they use act like you know what your doing then look up tutorials on the system

2019-01-11 20:37:28 UTC

Not finishing school yet? Great you got even more time to network. Start now! Build a portfolio, start working.
No friends... that is literally what the clubs are for. Go there, buy a beer for the guys and start asking to talk shop.
Work on those skills that you will be hired for. Start practicing and learning. If you can't do shit you better have just started this semester. In which case you better be learning.

2019-01-11 20:37:42 UTC

If you dont like the advice being given, you really need to change fields.

2019-01-11 20:38:07 UTC

Great

2019-01-11 20:38:10 UTC

He's right it is totally a connection based industry

2019-01-11 20:38:15 UTC

And you think a recording studio is going to hire some kid that hasn't done shit?

2019-01-11 20:38:20 UTC

do everything we are saying. Work on that portfolio!

2019-01-11 20:38:37 UTC

A good portfolio is gonna get you hired over your degree.

2019-01-11 20:38:46 UTC

Then go to a fucking club

2019-01-11 20:38:50 UTC

Sound is sound

2019-01-11 20:39:05 UTC

Or are you planning to be a foli artist

2019-01-11 20:39:21 UTC

Were being harsh on you because we are being honest. This is not a field that you can sit back and relax in.

2019-01-11 20:39:27 UTC

Go to a club, do for a band

2019-01-11 20:39:43 UTC

Stupid shit like that. Again I know people I'm the field

2019-01-11 20:39:47 UTC

That's how they got in

2019-01-11 20:40:11 UTC

Speak to the backstage guys at concerts and ask to help out

2019-01-11 20:40:19 UTC

Show you know how to rig the tech

2019-01-11 20:40:25 UTC

They will give you a chance

2019-01-11 20:40:40 UTC

What Crappy is saying.. is intern it up.

2019-01-11 20:41:31 UTC

Better yet, call a company that does it and ask if your degree would get you a job with no experience

2019-01-11 20:41:52 UTC

^^

2019-01-11 20:41:56 UTC

And pretty much @Kragt but you have an advantage cause being a gofer sucks

2019-01-11 20:42:09 UTC

So offer to do it and ask to do more

2019-01-11 20:42:19 UTC

Chat to the tech on the board

2019-01-11 20:42:52 UTC

I pointed him to the TFM vid about that, but I know he hasn't had time yet.
But you start at the job you want and work backwards from the requirements.
You dont start at the degree and ask what can I do with this? You start at the job and say what do I need to do to get this?

2019-01-11 20:42:57 UTC

Shit like that is your way. A degree is great but in this case it's the cherry, not the ice-cream
