Capitalist ideology has penetrated our thinking so deeply that the only conceivable solution to climate change is to wait for it to so bad that bankers can start to profit off of fixing it. so until there's an incentive to do anything that makes the rich richer, they'll just keep doing nothing.

When shit hits the fan, people start coping any way they can, and greedy capitalists have been eager to provide billions of hours of content to placate the masses. Lootboxes in video games, etc. Look around at all the people who are dealing with their discontentment by staring at their phones watching music videos, playing games, and mindlessly checking Snapchat for updates. Even this discord channel. Distraction has become necessary to deal with the many elements of our lives that we are disappointed with. The further people slip into this zoned-out vegetable state of mind, the more likely it is that we will be completely caught off guard if there is any major terrorist attack or cataclysmic event.

Very interesting point, I agree that the masses are distracted, but how does that relate to climate change? Why distract the masses for climate change? And why would the greedy capitalists do so when inevitably they would suffer as well? Why would they cash in just to reduce their greedy lavish lifestyles to underground bunkers? 🤷🏽‍♂️ Make the connection.

Well even the wealthy themselves are distracted, they just have higher tier distractions, IE going to 10000 dollar seat NBA games and concerts every night. But they know the commoners can't afford that, so they have to invent the most addictive types of placating things possible. Fortnite for example. I play Overwatch, and it's not better; the entire thing is meticulously designed to keep you grinding for more SR, keep you grinding for more lootboxes. This is HIGHLY more addictive than past times that weren't built with this sort of greed in mind such as fucking Solitaire or Chess.

No one is safe from climate change, including Bezos and Gates. They just will be able to insulate themselves from its affects far longer than the cook working at McDonalds

I have a Business Management Economics degree, minor in CS. I read those guys in undergrad, of course. But school itself doesn't teach you a lot of these things, they don't want you becoming a disillusioned human who is jaded about participating in the workforce.
