Dont you have to change the resourse pack from the game menu once it is installed?

There should be an option window that says "resource packs"

And then you select it

I stopped playing Minecraft before I was ever old enough to lean how to install mods

You can turn the game into whatever you want

Modding a game is really frustrating tbh

Installing Skyrim Home of the Nords for Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind took me like 1-2 hours

It wasnt even finished at the time either, kind of pissed me off. It was still really fun and cool though.
