Green Day's song, Basket Case, is a song about Billy Joe Armstrong's crippling anxiety, and it was released in 1994. The verse and chorus follow the basic pop chord progression, I-V-vi-IV-V-I, in Eb major. Neon Genesis Evangelion first appeared on Japanese TVs in 1995, and dealt with many themes, including depression and anxiety. It's theme song, A Cruel Angel's Thesis, is in the beginning of tune in C minor, but in it's verses, it goes to the relative major, Eb Major. The verses then follow the basic chord progression of I-V-vi-IV-V-I.

So, if you lapped over the verses, and chorus of Basket Case over A Cruel Angel's Thesis, thematically and musically, it won't be out of place. Tonally however, it will be
