sorry, i like when my martial characters have more options potentially at their hands that don't pidgeonhole them into doing the same action of "i hit the guy" and maybe "hey, i'm going to move", which is an issue that's been in a lot of editions of D&D (unless you genuinely think martials should be bland and have no flavorful abilities that don't make them be like wizards or worse [in terms of broken] (LOOKING AT YOU, PATH OF WAR/TOME OF BATTLE))
stuff like eldritch knight in 5e or battle master are good starts at making interesting fighters that get interesting abilities that don't necessarily make you feel like all your rounds are going to be spent doing "i hit da gobwin! :DDD" but i feel like once you run out of your dice or spells, you pretty much revert back to the level of being an uninteresting faggot that just says "ok i hit it this round"

and i get 5e has some of those basic options on the table, and so did plenty editions before, but the issue i have with them is that, for the most part, they literally generally become practically useless or just become a similar sort of thing where they're just "ok, i [ACTION] them" with nothing too interesting attached to them besides the bland basics.

but the reason i'm shilling this subsystem comes down to the fact that when you build a character that makes use of it, you start out by selecting their proficiencies (armor, weapons, etc.) and sometimes those proficiencies come with neat little boons [such as reducing the malus to your AC from charges], then deciding what sort of concepts your want to devote your character concept to doing in combat, be it causing someone to die a death of a thousand cuts, or a sweep expert who slams their opponents in the face when they hit the ground, or maybe a mix: a sort of duelist who has the ability to take people to the floor by taking by throwing them on the ground, then slamming a blade in their chest, or something different than that, because the system is incredibly versatile and is concept based
