Darkside makes your chars ugly due to Sith corruption, but I always play on the light, or grey, since that makes you pragmatically evil instead of just a cartoon villain.

Lightside Sith are basically an affront to the Jedi, and you piss them off by proving you're a better Jedi than they are.

Not sure with credits or cartel coins. If you're subbed, I'm pretty sure you don't need cartel coins to change you appearance, but I can't say for sure.

Chiss and Sith Pureblood are locked behind a paywall. For all the other races, you should be able to unlock them for any class once you level them to 50 on any race they are playable as, which includes the Chiss and Purebloods.
