2017-07-26 19:07:16 UTC

talk to Vanguard if you're serious about MBA

2017-07-26 19:07:35 UTC

you probably don't want to get a finance bachelor's if that's your plan

2017-07-26 19:07:59 UTC

@northern_confederate all in all I will probably speak to my father about it

2017-07-26 19:08:26 UTC

I just don't really know what I want to do from here

2017-07-26 19:08:47 UTC

definitely, also speak to younger ppl too may have different perspective

2017-07-26 19:08:48 UTC

I am currently making a decent amount of $$$ for someone my age but don't know how to keep climbing

2017-07-26 19:11:17 UTC

you have to risk

2017-07-26 19:11:28 UTC

what do you do

2017-07-26 19:13:20 UTC

Taking risks in life when it comes to advancement and becoming more successful is a white trait

2017-07-26 19:21:27 UTC

without doxxing myself too hard I do SP administration and a bit of architecture for a small business that has a lot of outside clients looking for applications to be built in SP and to have their SP servers managed. I also do SP migrations and site building for public and team sites. do some custom dev stuff as well, like using snippets to insert breadcrums into SP2013, for example. I work with SP designer a bit, deal with Nintex, a bit of BI , IIS, and custom search.

2017-07-26 19:21:41 UTC

@Gray to answer "what do you do"

2017-07-26 19:22:44 UTC

ok

2017-07-26 19:22:53 UTC

so maybe you should delve a bit deeper into BI

2017-07-26 19:23:10 UTC

I've been interested in doing that

2017-07-26 19:23:19 UTC

I mean should I just get a 4 year

2017-07-26 19:23:31 UTC

no

2017-07-26 19:23:39 UTC

you have over 4 years of pure experience

2017-07-26 19:23:45 UTC

take that and run with it

2017-07-26 19:23:54 UTC

the experience you have trumps a degree

2017-07-26 19:24:09 UTC

If I'm going to be honest with you, I know you're saying that but it's incredibly difficult

2017-07-26 19:24:36 UTC

The risk for you would be to focus on what you are truly interested in and try to integrate it

2017-07-26 19:24:58 UTC

I have had so many jobs lined up, passed all of their interviews, been the best candidate, and then been told "unfortunately because of your lack of a degree we have to pass, it's a strict requirement"

2017-07-26 19:26:14 UTC

there was a position for the parent company of Phillip Morris that was for a SP/365 admin that was open for 9 months when I was contacted by a recrruiter and I was told several times "holy shit you're perfect for this job" over and over by several different people

2017-07-26 19:26:53 UTC

everyone who interviewed me or spoke to me assured me "there is no way you won't recieve this position, your experience is exactly what we need"

2017-07-26 19:27:42 UTC

and then at the end of all the process I was told by the actual hiring supervisor that they had a company policy of not hiring people without college degrees because "college teaches an important way of thinking critically"

2017-07-26 19:28:07 UTC

the disappointment was immense and very upsetting

2017-07-26 19:28:11 UTC

if that's the case find the cheapest easiest way to knock out the rest of your degree from a decent enough school

2017-07-26 19:29:20 UTC

ok

2017-07-26 19:29:21 UTC

so
