National waters are ridiculously well monitored compared to the land borders. A dingy will get spotted and picked up by coast guard within and hour of entering the waters unexpected

We dont have to rely on others for resources at all for that matter

And the navy would sink or shoot down anything that even looked at us wrong, we have enough military to shut the borders down like a new and inproved iron curtain

The US can absolutely sustain itself without trade, its not something Id like to see

but its a continental country

We also have military units on every continent in the world but we could literally just turtle while the rest of the world simply ran out of men

China is only a military threat because of volume of manpower

Cutting china ≠ cutting all trade. Other countries exist

The problem is Bretton Woods was not an economic arrangement on our end. Most of our trade is N America. It was an incentive for allies in the Cold War.

That and say what you will about our world police policy but that has lead to most countries having an insignificant military if they even have one

that's one thing about comparing the US to Russia, nearly all of the land the US has is useable, Russia not so much.

You can count on one hand how many countries are a legitimate military threat to us

And it's given almost everyone access to global markets because there's only one Navy that matters so nobody fights over routes.

The middles east and southeast asia would burn if the threat of US intervention was removed
