Interesting
remember, the KKK were all Democrats, and now it's being used... against a likely Democrat (cos that's what AntiFa more or less are)
Dixiecrats, who all became Dems when that party died
I'd love someone to write an article about the similarities between Antifa and the KKK
If I have some free time, maybe I'll do it and submit it to Quillette and the Post Millennial
Lots of people have written on it, both trying to prove a difference and providing evidence of their similarities
Fair enough
im not even for denying felons the vote
O lol already shared
I am not talking ex cons, I mean current felons
Felons generally don't deserve the right to vote?
Nobody cared about a felon's right to vote till Bernie said so and he's retarded so
I cared before he said
more for ex cons than current felons
and I hate bernie
for ex cons I don't think it should be a question, the prison is the punishment for the crime, they should be allowed to be a normal citizen again once it ends
when it comes to the in prison people I am more confliced
What crimes specifically that cause people to be felons are you more in favor for allowing that type of felon to vote?
I mean, ideally all of them, but I am also against parole and generally for longer sentences
imo the only two reasons you should be let out of prison are 1. your time is up. 2. your conviction is overturned
Even then, felons are stuck with that name for a reason. It's because they acted against society in such a despicable manner that they can't even participate in our elections anymore. It's not even like, if they survive their sentences or get their convictions overturned, they become good. They don't. Just look at some people who get let out early from prison and they go back to raping and murdering people. You want that guy to vote for your future leadership? You want that guy to have a gun?
ok, I can see you having an argument for served sentences, but convictions overturned dude?
What like they got the wrong guy? And their conviction was overturned?
Or smth?
They literally are legally innocent by our standards, and they still can't vote
yeah
like every guy let out for rape cause he didn't do it
since he wasn't pardoned he is still a felon
and he still can't vote
which is fucked
Well I mean doesn't that happen in the courtroom usually? Then it gets sent to a higher court or smth usually?
Even still we got high tech forensics n stuff today so it's not like it's that hard to determine if a guy did it or not. Unless it is the rare occasion.
The stats are... disheartening. The high end estimate is that 30% of felons did NOT do the crime they are in prison for. (the avg is 22% ish)
The overturn rate is 2%
even taking the low end estimate of 12% that means 10% of the people who are leaving prison did nothing wrong
Alrighty well, do you want to let +60% of felons have the right to vote then?
I'd rather let 10 ex cons vote than deny one innocent person.
Then you're actually letting wolves outvote a sheep
