The thing we should be trying to do is slowly devovle the role of the federal government and give states back their responsibilities.
and this is part of the problem i think, because ultimately nobody is smart enough to design a system that can, of its own volition, account for all the variables that will be thrown at it, especially in the long term
the founders should have accepted their role as a natural aristocracy
Well I say my point because if Democrat and Republican people can both live in what kind of US they want to live in, partisan politics will lessen.
i just want the usa to balkanize
I don't think balkanizing is necessary.
A lot of the issues result from federal overreach.
i think that political centralization largely flows from military centralization
also i would say there are deep division within states
Perhaps but it is easier to move between states than countries.
if you take two white parts of any states and compare them with white and black parts within the same state the former will probably be more harmonious
Well it's a matter of at least addressing divisions.
Because if people can choose their own destiny easier, we won't see radicalization nearly as much.
but this is the problem i have with this
i think these sorts of decentralization measures are temporary at best
and as the polity centralizes again we will be dealing with an even worse situation
I don't actually think too much power would be lost in the endavour at least the policies I would send back to states.
what would you propose
In matters of the domestic, the state should maintain sovereignty on its wellfare and health services. The state should also maintain sovereignty in how it will address issues of the right to bare arms and various cultural cornerpieces.
Basically abortion, gun rights, and issues related to culture should be handled by the state itself.
Is Gun Rights a State issue tho? *Glances at constitution*
Not now.
However, if it was.
We wouldn't see a Democratic push to federally outlaw them.
Which would cause a massive shitstorm.
I completely disagree. Whether state level or federal, Dems are out to destroy all "Right Wing" social issues. Best way to do this is through federal enforcement.
I think a massive amount of the support from the Dems that would seek to force their social ideals to the masses would dry up. It would be far less likely.
"I don't care about these other states. They can shoot themselves up for all I care."
Of course this isn't a sweeping declaration of peace forever. Just a way to let the current bubbling pressure die down.
As someone who's....Right of Center Right, I have every reason to want to agree with you. It just doesn't appear that way to me. Most of the motivation of Leftest and Dems in general stems from the mere existence of the Republican voting block. Those pesky "Fly over States", and there backwards ideas.
I mean, Dems are willing to subvert democracy by completely resisting any level of immigration reduction. All to gain power over the US, and crush the RIght. The one victory Republican's have long term, is the Supreme Court nominations, and once Dems gain super majority in both houses, and the presidency, I'll bet my left nut that they'll call for an expansion of the Supreme Court, so they can flood their own Justices into the Court.
The biggest driving force for the Left, is the destruction of the Right. Dont underestimate hatred and resentment as motivating force.
but @Jerm70 I think I have a solution!!! 😮
I'll let you respond first.
Your thoughts? @Jerm70
Uhh
Well I will just say this before I go.
You're leaving? :C
ok go on.
I am merely presenting an alternative ideal of how to run the US. I know that this system can't be achieved successfully as it stands now.
The partisan divide is too wide.
Sure. I understand that.
