but direct democracy is the only true democracy
Not an outdated system that only worked when we had autonomy in each constituency
HEY
HEY
why are you anti democracy?
lets go full on this and have a direct democracy
Well I see you are trolling now
used to be, that local voting was far more important than parliament voting and everyone could vote locally.. even pauper women
because it's a stupid argument
How(
Wanting a fairer voting system
no true scotsman
Doesn’t mean wanting a fucking referendum on everything
well it's not a democracy
everyone could directly vote locally for things that directly effected them
We will still have a REPRESENTATIVE democracy
nah that's not a democracy
you see how this works?
But the REPRESENTATIVES will be elected more faith
Fairly *
you want representative? It is unlike preferential voting in Australia where voters indicate their preferences and votes are distributed until there are two candidates left and the one with the most votes wins.
Take the Scottish seat of North East Fife, held by the Scottish National Party (SNP) by the thinnest of margins: two votes.
In the 2017 election, SNP candidate Stephen Gethins won the seat with 13,743 votes — or 32.9 per cent of the vote.
The rival Liberal Democrats polled 13,741 and the Conservative Party came in third with 10,088.
That means the votes of the 66 per cent who didn't cast a vote for the SNP didn't "count".
we have a parliamentry democracy
you're asking for a different one by calling the current one not a democracy
^^ I ripped a quote out an article
and it wasnt secret voting either... there are voting cards from 1843 with peoples names on
Greasy
That is my point
Those votes now have 0 representation
It’s like they never existed
but yours is not a democracy either, by the definition that you're using
so lets go full nuke on this and have a direct democracy if you're so worried about that
I said the same thing when it happened to UKIP
and some people got more "votes" than others... like one woman got 4 votes, because she owned a chain of butchers (this was on the 1843 voting card)
So it’s not just me wanting Lib Dem’s to do well
yes it is
I just want the two party system shaken up
It's not about redrawing borders of voting districts, it's about having a 'less worse' outcome for the majority
you applying your ideas consistently doesn't stop you from just wanting lib dems to do well
But it’s not lmao
these are not mutually exclusive
lmfao
