escaping the worst of it
its becoming a contentious point here in wales
not surprised
because storm dennis caused a landslide in the rhondda valley
and the slag heaps leftover from the mining closures were meant to go when the mines went
and even after the aberfan disaster, the government promised to do something about it
and they didnt
the two biggest things you can do to help reduce flooding:
1. Replant all the trees that used to be on the hillsides
2. Clear out all the drains and maintain your waterways properly
But ultimately, shit happens, and you'll get more stormy weather like this with climate change
the valleys are relatively untouched by this
like trees, the nature is still intact
the problem is the sewage systems
dwr cymru is so shit at maintaining the waterways lmao
Probably the same sewage system that's been there since the war, but with twice as many houses/people
every day on the bus im coming home, theres some kind of leak
the valleys are empty so i dunno about that. have you ever visited?
its depressing mining towns with zero immigrants but zero work for the most part
and the population of the villages is dwindling as people move to the cities that actually have work
im from cardiff and its turning into birmingham
yes, i'm aware of the changes since mining days
@pussydestroyer are you talking about the valleys like the middle bit of wales, or cwmbran?
south wales valleys
yuk
and i can say that, because i'm from cwmbranistan
im from cardiff hahahahahaha
help
cwmbran isnt that shit, is it? i dont bother going cos theres nothing to do
i left wales a good 9 years ago mate
never coming back
nah it's like metro for the valleys
probably for the best, its underwater rn
shut up? is it actually
i should call my dad
have you not heard about the floods....
in wales? no
2 people have died, 600 evacuated
oh shit
flood alerts last until friday im p sure
