the odds literally cant be 0, or else we wouldnt be here

2020-02-28 16:10:16 UTC

Ninja, Earth is a D20. Every time we roll a 1, germany begins a world war.

2020-02-28 16:10:22 UTC

If we had no evidence of life existing in the first place, we'd laugh at anyone claiming there was.

2020-02-28 16:11:01 UTC

every time you dont roll a nat 20 they start a war tbh

2020-02-28 16:11:07 UTC

but it just only rolls every 100 years

2020-02-28 16:11:18 UTC

I mean

2020-02-28 16:11:24 UTC

So why it roll twice in 20 years

2020-02-28 16:11:27 UTC

We know life exists in many places

2020-02-28 16:11:30 UTC

We are 40 years over due for the humanity to get a vibe check

2020-02-28 16:11:35 UTC

many places on earth

2020-02-28 16:11:36 UTC

The contention is intelligent life

2020-02-28 16:11:37 UTC

but only earth

2020-02-28 16:11:39 UTC

No

2020-02-28 16:11:45 UTC

You have bacteria

2020-02-28 16:11:50 UTC

which is on earth

2020-02-28 16:11:51 UTC

We don't know life does, we know the conditions we anticipate exist.

2020-02-28 16:11:51 UTC

On mars

2020-02-28 16:11:56 UTC

which came from earth

2020-02-28 16:11:57 UTC

We have yet to prove life exists.

2020-02-28 16:11:58 UTC

@NinjaQuick That's not how statistics work, close to zero does not mean impossible. The universe is almost infinite, it is much more possible for life to occur given that fact.

2020-02-28 16:11:58 UTC

and isnt alive on mars

2020-02-28 16:12:04 UTC

No

2020-02-28 16:12:19 UTC

My point is remove earth from the equation and it is zero.

2020-02-28 16:12:19 UTC

As far as you know

2020-02-28 16:12:20 UTC

the universe is infinite

2020-02-28 16:12:26 UTC

Life on earth might have came

2020-02-28 16:12:27 UTC

the observable universe is not

2020-02-28 16:12:29 UTC

From other place

2020-02-28 16:12:47 UTC

for there to be an edge to the universe, there would also have to be a barrier, which there just isnt, there couldnt be.

2020-02-28 16:12:57 UTC

Tbh, alot of Archeobacteria arrives on earth all the time from Comets and meteors. On Europa, the satellite we have in orbit has caught microbes on the camera lens from water jets spraying water up into the upper edges of atmosphere on the camera.

2020-02-28 16:12:59 UTC

Probably there's just no way to do FTL and we'll just never meet any other species

2020-02-28 16:13:06 UTC

Literally in a million years

2020-02-28 16:13:27 UTC

You can try to argue how stats work but the fact is we have one sample, and it is here, excluding it we have zero

2020-02-28 16:13:28 UTC

there probably is life out there in other solar systems

2020-02-28 16:13:34 UTC

but we have no way of being certain it exists

2020-02-28 16:13:39 UTC

so its not certain there is other life

2020-02-28 16:13:47 UTC

That's a pretty stupid metric ninja

2020-02-28 16:13:50 UTC

and there is no credible evidence to suggest that their is

2020-02-28 16:14:10 UTC

the bacteria growth that evolved into multicellular organisms can be found in many harsh conditions. There's still a chance that life would propagate else where

2020-02-28 16:14:10 UTC

So the odds are the amount of time it takes to form a molecular bond, and how many times that time has passed for every atom in the universe since the start of the universe.

2020-02-28 16:14:17 UTC

excluding the only evidence of something means that its impossible, that does make logical sense, but its also a pointless thing to say
