Services are rendered by one man to another for payment.

2020-02-29 04:53:04 UTC

People need to understand the difference.

2020-02-29 04:53:12 UTC

Commies think you are born and are owed gibs for existing

2020-02-29 04:53:17 UTC

no you just call less things rights mersenne

2020-02-29 04:53:32 UTC

@lancelout Cause their econmic niggers

2020-02-29 04:53:36 UTC

June again how can you have a right to someone else's income ?

2020-02-29 04:53:38 UTC

Think of it this way June.

2020-02-29 04:53:52 UTC

The weak should fear the strong kek

2020-02-29 04:53:56 UTC

if enough people with enough power decide that lancelout

2020-02-29 04:54:04 UTC

that's anybody gets any right

2020-02-29 04:54:19 UTC

I'll agree with you entirely, governments really decide what rights citizens are entitled to. Personally, I believe it's more ephemeral - with "Personal rights" being life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness - essentially Freedom of Expression.

2020-02-29 04:54:20 UTC

Oh look a post modernist power based argument

2020-02-29 04:54:37 UTC

yeah politics is about power

2020-02-29 04:54:44 UTC

June imagine this scenario.

2020-02-29 04:55:01 UTC

You're stuck on a deserted island by yourself.

2020-02-29 04:55:15 UTC

Healthcare and college are services rendered by one to another. They can't be rights if one individual demands the services of another without an exchange.

2020-02-29 04:55:15 UTC

i hate this scenario

2020-02-29 04:55:19 UTC

just throwing that out there

2020-02-29 04:55:23 UTC

but go on

2020-02-29 04:55:37 UTC

Can we just Civil War instead, it honestly skips all this mumbo jumbo lol

2020-02-29 04:55:39 UTC

Whatever you can do on this island is a right, whatever you can not do is a privilege.

2020-02-29 04:55:42 UTC

<:hypersmugon:544638648721604608>

2020-02-29 04:56:00 UTC

Now can you say whatever you want??

2020-02-29 04:56:01 UTC

everything people call a right is in practice predicated on a service rendered by one to another, generally to protect that right

2020-02-29 04:56:20 UTC

yeah you can say whatever you want on an island with nobody to challenge your ability to do so yeah

2020-02-29 04:56:34 UTC

OK so freedom of speech is a right.

2020-02-29 04:56:41 UTC

Unquestionably.

2020-02-29 04:56:41 UTC

but why does that mean that

2020-02-29 04:57:07 UTC

Because June, anything you can do by yourself on this island is a right, anything you can't do is not a right.

2020-02-29 04:57:13 UTC

and why

2020-02-29 04:57:13 UTC

Rights are relegated to the individual - Services require another's consent.

2020-02-29 04:57:18 UTC

You can speak, believe anything you want.

2020-02-29 04:57:30 UTC

But you don't have the right to shelter, education, healthcare etc.

2020-02-29 04:57:56 UTC

This is ultimately the difference between rights and privileges.

2020-02-29 04:58:01 UTC

you also have the right to swing your fist at any area on the island

2020-02-29 04:58:04 UTC

I fixed Harry Potter

2020-02-29 04:58:07 UTC

but when another person is there that can be challenged

2020-02-29 04:58:09 UTC

<:slurpgon:583424900732157956>

2020-02-29 04:58:29 UTC

you swing it too close to them and they might do something about it

2020-02-29 04:58:31 UTC

same thing with speech

2020-02-29 04:58:34 UTC

Death's correct here. That's probably the best example of a personal freedom or right that's restricted by a government.
