what the hell does that tell you
people need direction and ambition and instead our culture tells them "you're fine, don't change, everything is good"
people have no outlet for the part of themselves that knows they could be better
yeah that's fucked
we need to start being less tolerant
less tolerant of ourselves i think
it would be good if society as a whole taught you that
is what i mean
we had this idea in america for a while but it got out of hand
we used to tell our kids they could be the president or an astronaut or a nuclear physicist
but that slowly got warped into "you can be a rockstar, a pro athlete, a youtuber, a streamer, etc"
I think that shit is too far
it needs to be like
Hey kids, here's some admirable people. You can be like them
we forget to mention it takes hard work
oh for sure, people think musicians are just talented
we have an unrealistic perception of reality
*my generation
there is for sure, inherant musical talent
but that doesn't do anything
my brother is the kind of person that will try something once and if he's not immediately good at it he'll never attempt it again
that's a lot of young people today man
lol
they don't have the patience to hone a craft
everything needs to be fast paced DOPAMINE DOPAMINE DOPAMINE
GO GO GO
that's what we are used to
over stimulation
it doesn't make sense
take any competitive sport
is your brother good at anything?
the people at the tops of those games are the ones that have spent inordinate amounts of time practicing
he's good at lifting weights
well wtf he knows how to get decent at things
unless he doesn't think about what he's doing whatsoever
nah he got into weightlifting because he was always big and strong and it's something he could immediately pick up and do
he didn't have to go through any period of putting weight on and building up strength to not be a scrawny manlet
yeah, but he can probably look back at when he started and see how awful he was at doing things propertly
oh for sure i'll give him credit for sticking with it
he got a job at a gym and made it his life
