The whole situation is weird. People have dedicated so much time and attention to this one guy. Some of us watched all his videos, paid for the book, paid for the merch. We grew up watching MDE. It was with us through high school and college. It became a part of our lives. Communities formed around this weird internet collective, only becoming more popular after World Peace. A cult of personality formed around Sam. He was watched by millions of people. He became embedded into internet culture. 'Sam Hyde' became a meta-character, and the real one died. He reveals himself to truly being the asshole he plays on TV. He uses his friends, he uses his fans. MDE never dies, but Sam did.
