from my point of view, we can see the thumbs, and hands at large, pointing in many different directions as they tumble down inveitably into the same bowl - coming to the final stop, the last stop before death. resting in a bowl of ego, themselves. a journey to find their individuality - but all the same in the end.
the facebook box is merely a red herring - it could be any vector that causes the transmission of this useful and very human appendage, representing the body and its alignment, into a bowl of ultimate face layer "ego"
you might also notice that the bowl is in the dark, where as the hands holding the box are in the light
