Cap and trade carbon bill was going to be rammed through by their 2 bit governor. It would essentially kill Oregon logging, in 2 years gas costs would jump up 29 cents per gallon. Republicans wanted it to be a popular vote resolution on the next ballot, so of course the Democrats attached an emergency measure to the bill because "climate change is an emergency..." no matter where you fall on that side of the debate that is bullshit, obviously.
Dems hold a supermajority, but not enough to hold quorum, so 12 GOP Senators refused to show for the vote. The governor took this well...by authorizing the state police to detain and bring back the senators by force for the vote. Lead of the GOP Senators literally responded "Send bachelors, and make sure they're heavily armed. I won't be held political prisoner in the State of Oregon." 200 III%ers are now providing protection for the GOPers and yesterday the planned special session for the vote was canceled after a "credible threat" from the militias.
