In an adventure i played there were kobold equivalent creatures attacking the players. They threw rocks and boulders at them from 30 ft above while the PCs were in a caravan moving along a small road alongside a cliff. In open battle the PCs would have just killed them easily, but in thi situation those little critters were really really dangerous foes.

Yep. The issue is most dms just go "5 kobolds appear". With nothing more.

Tbh i feel things like that cause the lack of dungeon delve rp that was so prevelent in 2e. And the fact that past lvl 6 in 3.0/3.5 and lvl 3 in 5e you are basically unstoppable in tier 1 and that edge never stops.

How do I enjoy being a DM?

start enjoying seeing other people have fun and being in pain

It is boring, and it's intensive creatively as well as annoying

I'm a GM. I find it fun because I get to create a cool story and watch how my players interact with it. I love watching their interactions and watching how the story unfolds around them. I also have a lot of fun preparing and thinking about what is happening in the world around them

I like being surprised in a story. Me telling it doesn't allow for that.
Maybe I can enjoy it, but I usually don't like telling stories.

I like being a GM, but I can see why it isn't something everyone would enjoy. Which is okay, people like different things.

Never intended to GM but have found myself having to several times now... Oddly enough Mechwarrior RPG has been one of the most fun ones to GM.

Yeah, I came to GMing too by accident. Our GM was sick and I jumped in with a small premade StarWars adventure to fill a storygap

You can still be surprised as a GM. That's what your players are for.
