they both do literally the same thing: nothing.
sounds like sophisticated IDEs like to mutilate code without me realizing
the problem is that the code looks different in editors with different indent size
which is why Google and in general pros use spaces
then they can use the proper indent size in their respective editor
>pros use spaces
there was a study which found that people using spaces earn more
lick my ass you are bullshitting
because they know how to configure an IDE correctly
link to study
if they knew how to configure their IDE they would set the indent length to their preference and use tabs
not a controversy
not a raging one
i also dont think google has the best "pro" coders
<:what:382980756139409409>
this is a stackoverflow survey
not a representative sample
my guess?
the real niggas who get paid more to code arent answering faggot questions for free on SO
```Obviously, using spaces is not the fundamental reason why those folks are making more money. The survey points to a correlation, not a cause. There are other reasons that developers who use spaces are are doing work that pays more, but the data provided no real clues as to what those reasons were.
```
you don't say
isn't that obvious.
this is the kind of dogmatic faggotry i mentioned to @MountainMan
yep
I explained you the reasoning behind spaces. You can use tabs
I'm a tab nigga
foh spaced out coders
what are the chances a whole team of coders are all in an office on company computers, each using their editor of choice?
im not going to walk onto a team and refuse to use anything other than Atom
I can use the editor they like and use tabs or spaces if they like too
once youre on a job theres no debate over preference
sure, Google Java coders use spaces
idrc what google or java people do
if you code java for google, arent you basically a janitor?
I can look into the Python style guide too
i probly wont learn much python
*Never use tabs or mix tabs and spaces. In cases of implied line continuation, you should align wrapped elements either vertically, as per the examples in the line length section; or using a hanging indent of 4 spaces, in which case there should be nothing after the open parenthesis or bracket on the first line.*
*changes indent length to* ``1``
happy now?
spaces waste time
