Bought from AliExpress

2018-11-02 22:29:39 UTC

No

2018-11-02 22:29:41 UTC

Orrible

2018-11-02 22:29:50 UTC

They are so fragile

2018-11-02 22:30:07 UTC

They are so fragile

2018-11-02 22:30:22 UTC

I bought 30, before I managed to solder ONE, I broke 7

2018-11-02 22:30:36 UTC

But yeah, iper smol

2018-11-02 22:30:51 UTC

But yeah, iper smol

2018-11-02 22:31:13 UTC

They have just like 7 positions or so

2018-11-02 22:31:25 UTC

But a clock needs at least 60 right

2018-11-02 22:32:08 UTC

So I wrote from scratch all the code to control the microstepping, following radial coordinates etc

2018-11-02 22:33:46 UTC

wonder if i can get servos this small

2018-11-02 22:35:49 UTC

what am i supposed to use to attach motors to their component securely when they just have the spinning pin?

2018-11-02 22:36:33 UTC

screw through the side of a housing around it?

2018-11-02 22:50:10 UTC

Just kill you self

2018-11-02 22:50:17 UTC

I was about to do just that lol

2018-11-02 22:50:26 UTC

You can't get servos that small

2018-11-02 22:50:34 UTC

But those are servos

2018-11-02 22:50:38 UTC

Nojo

2018-11-02 22:50:43 UTC

Those are steppers lol

2018-11-02 22:51:03 UTC

So with a little programming you can use them just like servos

2018-11-02 23:09:46 UTC

true

2018-11-02 23:10:02 UTC

also

2018-11-02 23:10:04 UTC

This is not code that you should use, it was just a proof of concept, but you should get how things work. Maybe you are luky and there is a library for your board that manages steppers, and won't have to use this -intentionally- bad code. It won't compile because there are a couple missing files

2018-11-03 01:52:47 UTC

i have some sample code for basic control of steppers

2018-11-03 01:54:03 UTC

On right that's better

2018-11-03 01:54:16 UTC

ill still take a peek at this

2018-11-03 01:54:22 UTC

What did you want those steppers for? I've used them and they are a bitch

2018-11-03 01:54:40 UTC

And info about them was mostly nonexistent

2018-11-03 01:54:42 UTC

absolutely nothing in particular

2018-11-03 01:55:06 UTC

i actually need to get BIGGER motors than i have. not smaller

2018-11-03 01:55:45 UTC

but hey you never know, i could make a Coke Can RC car

2018-11-03 01:56:14 UTC

Keep in mind that those steppers had basically no torque

2018-11-03 01:56:26 UTC

of course

2018-11-03 01:56:28 UTC

But they are fine for gauges and stuff

2018-11-03 01:56:43 UTC

Expecially if you want them to look analog

2018-11-03 01:56:43 UTC

how much weight do you think they can move

2018-11-03 01:56:49 UTC

0 lol
