i love this article

2018-07-17 20:47:14 UTC

the new supra is as much a supra as the mrs was an mr2

2018-07-17 20:48:16 UTC

also I dunno when the automotive industry was supposed to have started using soy but a friend of mine has a 300zx and all its wiring has been eaten by rodents

2018-07-17 21:15:02 UTC

lol

2018-07-17 21:15:30 UTC

i never knew that can happen

2018-07-17 21:16:42 UTC

it's not really a new thing as far as I'm aware, if you store vehicles in places with lots of rodents the electrics tend to get fucked

2018-07-17 21:19:14 UTC

#rip

2018-07-17 21:25:25 UTC

we should go back to asbestos wiring to prevent this.

2018-07-17 21:33:12 UTC

I mean, even classic cars ended up with chewed out wiring from rats and mice searching for food

2018-07-17 21:33:30 UTC

they'll chew through anything to make a path

2018-07-17 21:33:45 UTC

admittedly it's not outright eating it

2018-07-18 00:22:08 UTC

I really do not think a 4 pot Supra will impact the 86 if it is, say, a 300hp 2.0T

2018-07-18 00:22:25 UTC

It's still a Beamer

2018-07-18 00:23:24 UTC

Probably

2018-07-18 00:23:43 UTC

I doubt they are gonna even use their own 2.0t

2018-07-18 00:23:43 UTC

*Probably?* It's built in Austria lol

2018-07-18 00:23:56 UTC

They could still use a Toyota engine.

2018-07-18 00:24:01 UTC

But I doubt they will

2018-07-18 00:24:20 UTC

Not that it would matter. It would still be a German nightmare

2018-07-18 00:24:30 UTC

Toyota is going really low effort on this one.

2018-07-18 00:24:34 UTC

Nightmare?

2018-07-18 00:24:55 UTC

Man, I begin to wonder if you have ever driven a German sports car.

2018-07-18 00:25:17 UTC

The only way this will be anything bad is if be makes it too much like the old Z

2018-07-18 00:25:24 UTC

I'm not talking about 'driving experience' I'm talking about electrical problems

2018-07-18 00:25:27 UTC

Which was not their greatest sports car

2018-07-18 00:25:30 UTC

Eh

2018-07-18 00:25:45 UTC

That's every car with fancy gadgets

2018-07-18 00:25:58 UTC

🙄

2018-07-18 00:26:21 UTC

If the supra lacks those it could escape that

2018-07-18 00:26:45 UTC

Fuck.what is up with discord today?

2018-07-18 00:27:50 UTC

Duplicated that message like 4 times

2018-07-18 00:56:14 UTC

the smaller bmw engines have been garbage since 2006

2018-07-18 00:56:50 UTC

also I had this discussion earlier, the gt86 is gonna likely cost half as much as even the cheapest "supra" option

2018-07-18 00:57:09 UTC

so it doesn't really occupy the same market segment at all

2018-07-18 00:59:01 UTC

honestly the hype over the new "supra" is entirely based on the name, nothing about the car reflects its origins. It's like the new nsx compared to the original, it's the automotive equivalent of an amy schumer joke; unfunny and gross

2018-07-18 01:00:20 UTC

I'd argue the NSX is a legitimate replacement

2018-07-18 01:01:10 UTC

It's still a Honda, mid engine, and sufficiently advanced enough to show off the brand.

2018-07-18 01:02:50 UTC

the original nsx was supposed to be a pure driving car, light, nimble with incredible road feel and feedback

2018-07-18 01:03:26 UTC

the... reiteration is like 400kg fatter and disconnects the driver from the road

2018-07-18 01:03:44 UTC

it isn't a pure driver car at all anymore
