Oh, driver perspective

2018-07-24 02:21:19 UTC

the best comparison I can think of is the golf gti vs gtd, it's generally fairly difficult to compare even diesel options against petrol counterparts though because they aren't quite for the same kind of buyers

2018-07-24 02:21:28 UTC

I'd take the gti over the gtd any day

2018-07-24 02:22:03 UTC

remove the fact it's faster in petrol form, it still sounds and drives better

2018-07-24 02:22:39 UTC

I'd take the diesel. VW diesels have a good track record, and the mileage is better

2018-07-24 02:22:48 UTC

Sound is relative

2018-07-24 02:23:02 UTC

I actually like the gti better for everything except sound

2018-07-24 02:23:05 UTC

And you're not buying a VW for speed lol

2018-07-24 02:23:09 UTC

I enjouly diesel noise

2018-07-24 02:23:13 UTC

Enjoy

2018-07-24 02:23:25 UTC

But no, they are not for the same buyers

2018-07-24 02:23:25 UTC

if you don't buy it for speed you don't buy the gti/gtd

2018-07-24 02:23:35 UTC

both are basically performance versions

2018-07-24 02:23:42 UTC

But some people like their speed down low

2018-07-24 02:23:45 UTC

Like me.

2018-07-24 02:23:47 UTC

if you want economy, you get one of the economy models

2018-07-24 02:23:58 UTC

I almost never go past 4k rom on my cruze.

2018-07-24 02:23:59 UTC

GTI guys buy it to be 'Euro-ricey'

2018-07-24 02:24:21 UTC

I love low end torque and surging midrange haul

2018-07-24 02:24:34 UTC

From what i understand, the gtd is damn good at that

2018-07-24 02:24:49 UTC

And 180hp is more than enough with dynamics like that

2018-07-24 02:24:54 UTC

but still slower than the gti

2018-07-24 02:24:59 UTC

So?

2018-07-24 02:25:02 UTC

and still handles worse

2018-07-24 02:25:05 UTC

because of the engine weight

2018-07-24 02:25:12 UTC

But still handles well enough

2018-07-24 02:25:15 UTC

So again

2018-07-24 02:25:17 UTC

So?

2018-07-24 02:25:18 UTC

diesel engines mean understeer

2018-07-24 02:25:22 UTC

lol you're not buying a race car

2018-07-24 02:25:27 UTC

Dont care

2018-07-24 02:25:31 UTC

why would you buy something that is literally worse when something better is available?

2018-07-24 02:25:47 UTC

Like, why would you actively make the choice to get the worse option?

2018-07-24 02:25:51 UTC

Because i would never drive the car to its limit anyway

2018-07-24 02:26:07 UTC

Below its limit, the gtd would be more enjoyable

2018-07-24 02:26:33 UTC

if a car is worse at its limit, it's also going to be worse below the limit

2018-07-24 02:26:34 UTC

I am beginning to think you dont get that different people value different driving dynamics and features differently

2018-07-24 02:26:38 UTC

I might go 90mph once in a while in a VW. The rest is just fucking around town

2018-07-24 02:26:51 UTC

you are making the assumption that the diesel will suit your current driving style better

2018-07-24 02:26:57 UTC

Well yeah

2018-07-24 02:27:28 UTC

I do a ton of highway driving, as long as it handles WELL then idgaf about handline, and i orefer low end power
