Oh, driver perspective
the best comparison I can think of is the golf gti vs gtd, it's generally fairly difficult to compare even diesel options against petrol counterparts though because they aren't quite for the same kind of buyers
I'd take the gti over the gtd any day
remove the fact it's faster in petrol form, it still sounds and drives better
I'd take the diesel. VW diesels have a good track record, and the mileage is better
Sound is relative
I actually like the gti better for everything except sound
And you're not buying a VW for speed lol
I enjouly diesel noise
Enjoy
But no, they are not for the same buyers
if you don't buy it for speed you don't buy the gti/gtd
both are basically performance versions
But some people like their speed down low
Like me.
if you want economy, you get one of the economy models
I almost never go past 4k rom on my cruze.
GTI guys buy it to be 'Euro-ricey'
I love low end torque and surging midrange haul
From what i understand, the gtd is damn good at that
but still slower than the gti
So?
and still handles worse
because of the engine weight
But still handles well enough
So again
So?
diesel engines mean understeer
lol you're not buying a race car
Dont care
why would you buy something that is literally worse when something better is available?
Like, why would you actively make the choice to get the worse option?
Because i would never drive the car to its limit anyway
Below its limit, the gtd would be more enjoyable
if a car is worse at its limit, it's also going to be worse below the limit
I am beginning to think you dont get that different people value different driving dynamics and features differently
I might go 90mph once in a while in a VW. The rest is just fucking around town
you are making the assumption that the diesel will suit your current driving style better
Well yeah
I do a ton of highway driving, as long as it handles WELL then idgaf about handline, and i orefer low end power
