I mean it's...basically got Cruze/Malibu fit and finish. It's just really not worth $50k.

2018-08-06 06:28:15 UTC

Oh, I've never seen one. I'm not saying it's shit, only that there's no excuse

2018-08-06 06:28:36 UTC

Tru

2018-08-06 06:30:14 UTC

Of course I would find this hours later, after Matt, Sediment, and Diet are all probably asleep

2018-08-06 06:30:23 UTC

I need to stop getting into debates while on my phone...

2018-08-06 07:11:26 UTC

Tesla is actually profitable though because the cars are meant to be actually used not just for brand image

2018-08-06 07:12:28 UTC

so they aren't little subcompact shitboxes with 50 miles of range that nobody would ever buy

2018-08-06 14:46:35 UTC

I think you're mistaking a development platform for a loss leader; the current state of the ev market for the most part is experimental and while some models generate loss, this is the equivalent to r&d costs rather than companies marketing lossy options

2018-08-06 14:46:46 UTC

also as of yet I don't think tesla is profitable

2018-08-06 14:48:50 UTC

tesla is a garbage company filled with lies, they only managed to meet their 5k a week model 3s 6mo late by sacrificing quality control, meanwhile the model 3 that was supposed to be a c class/3 series competitor hasn't been sold close to the price of its competition, probably because the model 3 at 35k isn't profitable at all

2018-08-06 14:50:15 UTC
2018-08-06 16:54:05 UTC

tesla is profitable already

2018-08-06 17:07:15 UTC

tesla has not yet reported a profit as far as I'm aware

2018-08-06 17:13:14 UTC

two profit reports in 10 years

2018-08-06 17:13:26 UTC

of 2% and 0.95%

2018-08-06 17:13:33 UTC

what a farce

That's not profit but it is ok

you always have to invest in development

if you don't you will die

2018-08-06 17:23:33 UTC

if I remember right, when tesla did turn a profit the reason behind it was attributed significantly to California tax benefits

2018-08-06 17:24:31 UTC

and really, having a company that consistently loses money is absurd, if the banking sector was doing this the financial collapse would have been 1000 times worse

It's a gamble that we will all drive electric

now that ain't gunna work some places

but by God it would work here

2018-08-06 17:30:03 UTC

not really, we don't have the power infrastructure at present

2018-08-06 17:31:14 UTC

also, it's gonna make a total mess of pavements with shitty charging cables all over the place

2018-08-06 17:31:30 UTC

I do look forward to the vandalism that is inevitably gonna occur though

2018-08-06 17:32:18 UTC

I have no doubt that in 30 years basically every car will be driven by electric motors though

2018-08-06 17:33:40 UTC

my expectation is that tesla will either die or be bought by a real car company that understands obligations to investors and shareholders

2018-08-06 17:34:49 UTC

I also think this will be the first time a chinese auto company will be able to enter the western market as it wont take much for them to trash teslas offerings

2018-08-06 17:47:20 UTC

@LOGiK Amazon was losing money for a long time
They just were slways expanding
Tesla has a 40% margin on the cars

2018-08-06 17:53:56 UTC

amazons margins don't look too bad to me over the last 10 years

2018-08-06 17:56:49 UTC

I am pretty confident tesla is a bull market

2018-08-06 17:59:24 UTC

I'm also confident that long term tesla will annihilate itself, there are already significant reports of key vehicle component failures within warranty period, simultaneously tesla treats refurbished vehicles like junk and I'm gonna bet that in a couple of years a used tesla is gonna be about as appealing as buying a 3000gt vr4/gto/stealth for the reliability

2018-08-06 18:00:27 UTC

ultimately once the used car market establishes low value, the new car market will be impacted

2018-08-06 18:01:01 UTC

aside from that, as far as I've seen the jaguar ipace is reviewing better than teslas

2018-08-06 18:05:45 UTC

all those years of making losses and shitty cars on the back of taxpayers and dumb investors leads them to end up being on par with a british companys first attempt in the market
