Also the Civic Si has taller gearing than the BRZ in every gear past first, especially once you get to 4th where it's 4th is basically 5th in the BRZ and it has two overdrive gears vs. 1. I'm not saying the engine isn't more efficient anyway, but that's definitely a factor.
