plenty of mood-setting in the menus, especially for an alpha game
little scrapbook full of news clippings and letters
mmm, this defs seems like a game where you want a partner
no asia server
hopefully ping doesn't suck too much on US West
matchmaking is quick though
nfi how many players per game
mapsize is 1x1km, so a decent amount of room to move
loading has taken longer than the matchmaker did, might swap it onto the SSD later
game looks pretty
runs smooth
aaaaaaaand I'm dead.
well that could've gone better
still nfi what killed me or how
so that's frustrating
sound design is rock solid thus far
Second game was better
the other players make it arguably a little too paralyzing to get things done because you're constantly worried that one of them is hiding somewhere, getting ready to stiff you
It also randomly went 'oh btw only five minutes left get to an extraction point'
and I'm like 'wtf?'
So I start heading to an XP but don't make it before the timer expires and the game declares that now my character is dead
💯
things like that tend to shit me
but the overall experience is one I'm going to pursue
no loot boxes or microtransactions, so let's hope it stays that way
need to rebind the keys, too
the map key is tab
so if you're running (holding down shift) and try to open the map, it opens the steam overlay
Broke: Gaming makes men lazy.
Woke: Gaming turns men into psychopathic murderers.
fuck me this game is unforgiving
also I think it incentivizes murdering other players just a little too highly
on the flipside, when you take your time and everything just falls into place, it's also very satisfying
last game I found the bounty's hideout, but at the point should've done a 180 and exited the zone
would've still got a decent reward, plus my character wouldn't have been fuckin' butchered either
But it was my first time getting that far in the game and I gotta figure out how to deal with that motherfucker one way or another
ayyyyyy won a game
Pretty sure every other human player was a corpse, but I still sat around checking *e v e r y t h i n g* before going in for the bounty
I'd be curious to see how it plays out with a partner, so if you pick this game up give me a buzz
Playing solo certainly seems to have some advantages (read: play as painfully slow as you want without someone near you tripping over every thing and alerting everyone else to where you both are)
The interactive environment is good. Last game I was about to enter a building when a murder of crows took off, cawing loudly - so I ran across a pier and took cover, to find a two-man team bumbling their way into the boathouse yard
I was about to see if I could pick them off when they ran inside and started trying to kill the bounty - and then a flock of chickens in another area started panicking and, sure enough, another person ran in, too
