@Jek Porkins you've fallen into the same trap
they've made it into a discussion about women
this started out as a complaint about cricket bats, katanas, warpaint, chaos and prosthetics
things that don't belong anywhere near the ww2 trenches
@franti ```franti - Today at 1:20 AM
Battlefield 5 is a mees```
way ahead of you 🤣
Based on what I've been hearing, I'm beginning to feel that the trailer just vastly misrepresented the game. It is a fuckin awful trailer
SJWs made the same argument during CoD
It's immersion v game mechanics
Like when I'm in a flight sim, and somehow I'm on my own instead of in a flight formation, and how I don't need clearance from the ground crew etc etc
But if I'm in a WWII flight sim but I can take an F-16 up for a spin? yeah nah
Even War Thunder is a good example
I'm willing to tolerate being able to repair my transmission mid-battle (when even replacing a track link could take an hour or more IRL)
But driving a T-54 along the beaches of Normandy against Japanese Type 90 tanks? Getting a bit much.
didn't Battlefield 1 have a bunch of weapons skins in it and etc?
whaddyamean?
Most every game can't help but include skin variants nowadays
what I'm thinking is that if the overall game is "not serious" and not trying to be realistic then the girl soldiers are sort of whatever
Like I said, immersion v game mechanics
I remember one of the first Star Wars RTSs used the Age of Empires II engine
And whilst people were willing to overlook serious oddball shortcomings because "it's Star Wars and Star Wars is fiction"
A lot of people found it unacceptably absurd that you still had to mine stone and chop wood in order to build high-tech buildings and weaponry
my only gripe with the reveal trailer is that the disabled allied girl soldier is like the first thing you see and it's such a clear focal point that it is obviously ideologically codified
and the reaction of literally "shut up bigots" to any criticism
otherwise, bionic battle waifus are fine by me
Well, Wolf II is a good example
I Actually refunded because I'd spent thirty fucking minutes watching nothing but cutscenes and was already losing my mind
But I've seen the next scene
Where you waddle around in a wheelchair
It's like "wtf"
ya they hit like every possible "marginalized and oppressed" group they could
And that game isn't even 'realistic' to start with, just extraordinarily hamfisted
If it feels like it fits naturally, go for it
It's funny since I was thinking about this just the other day
The number of 80s films, 80s action films in particular, that had black dudes in them
Yet never called attention to the fact that there was a black dude in them
Everyone was just like "a'ight."
secular society doesn't like to be preached to? 🤔
Also, black TV shows and sitcoms? Father was
- A Cop
- A doctor
- A lawyer
etc
Therein lies the irony
You've gotten over the 'racism' issue when people no longer give a shit about you
