persuade you multiculturalism is good
i just read without re\ally reading proper
some cultures arent compatible and can cause a lot of problems if they are in close proximity, but for the most part I don't mind multiculturalism as long as there is a sense of nationalism
I'm thinking of Canadian style immigration, which uses a point system and requires either a sponsor or proof that you have 20k$ minimum to sustain yourself
Germany has gotten it wrong
to no one's benefit
DOes multiculturalism really need the 'Culture' part in how most people use it? Or is it just that there are alot people from various backgrounds who may still be adopting Home country norms and values?
i.e; Do certain expectation levels on intergration preclude a society from being multiculture?
wouldn't that just be multiracial
yes it does, because it is various cultures within one society
yeah but words dont exist and nobody says multiracial
well, culture means culture
Then I don't think we have any Multi-cultural societies
Or would a bi-cultural society count?
I disagree
bi means two...
but it depends on the region
Im more pulling on what are the neccesary and sufficient conditions for multi cultural
obviously large citys are more mixed
Yeha but every nation Prvilieges native norms and vales to some degree @Deleted User
well speaking from my experience, there are parts of my city that are majority sihk, mainland chinese, taiwanese, japanese, korean, indian, etc
that is multicultural
that is why I said that compatible cultures work out better
But i might be inclined to argue that that Privilegeing is incompatible with the claim #Multi-Cultural'
to me compatible just means proper vetting, people who demonstrate they can participate in the economy and society at large
regardless of whateher they are compatible or not
usually there is a majority culture, so they will be more represented
I think places where it is more split, might have more issues in that regard
Let me put it this way, I'm a brit and I'm given power over what classifies as an Integrated immigrant. So I say; Drinking Tea is a British value, people who don't drink tea are not British
Does not those kind of statements suggest the societies at BEST are reluctantly multicultural?
We need a proper definition of "culture" before we can argue about it.
multicultural societies just barely contained separatism
@Deleted User not here
but in some places yes
If you argue that "beating your wife" or "marrying a child" is just part of somebody's culture, then clearly we can't tolerate all cultures.
strict immigration is the only immigration
well, actually I think that you could say that is a british thing, and a mexican food place in britain would be a mexican thing
that is multicultural
I think i would argue that a prerequiste of Multi-culturalism includes strict limitations on integration expectaions AND must infer that ALL citizens are of the multi-cultural nation and not be a mexican thing
so many of my favorite people have been non-Anglo/western european. I don't buy this "in group preference" bullshit. white men are literally soy scum in this era.
