2018-08-12 23:24:55 UTC

2018-08-12 23:25:13 UTC

The US is a democracy

2018-08-12 23:25:17 UTC

No

2018-08-12 23:25:18 UTC

the power is vested on the people

2018-08-12 23:25:21 UTC

it is a republic

2018-08-12 23:25:22 UTC

Simple mate

2018-08-12 23:25:33 UTC

DAWG a republic can be democratic you know that right?

2018-08-12 23:25:36 UTC

@Capitán Alatriste ANYWAYS, to answer your question

2018-08-12 23:25:40 UTC

France is a republic

2018-08-12 23:25:43 UTC

is it not a democracy?

2018-08-12 23:25:51 UTC

Germany is also a republic

2018-08-12 23:25:55 UTC

is it not a democracy?

2018-08-12 23:26:02 UTC

It is about scale

2018-08-12 23:26:07 UTC

being more or less

2018-08-12 23:26:18 UTC

and it is more built to be a republic

2018-08-12 23:26:30 UTC

And France is built to be what?

2018-08-12 23:26:36 UTC

A fucking monarchy?

2018-08-12 23:26:47 UTC

As @Capitán Alatriste said:
"An old and outdated system of representation and election, massive gaps in equality, large social divides, an economy which is selling out to foreign production hubs etc... of course the massive lobbying of companies are another huge problem"

2018-08-12 23:26:48 UTC

Are you retarded?

2018-08-12 23:27:05 UTC

@DanConway Are you? what is a democracy on your mind?

2018-08-12 23:27:12 UTC

@DanConway small gaps although morally bad aren't a problem, it is however when they become massive. Nowadays the gap between thr poor and the rich is ever growing, making it more and more impossible for the lowest to reach the highest. Social mobility is the sign of a healthy economy but with larger gaps in income and wealth this disappears.

2018-08-12 23:27:19 UTC

If I was a mod, i'd be abusing my power so much right now

2018-08-12 23:27:35 UTC

2018-08-12 23:27:43 UTC

2018-08-12 23:28:57 UTC

2018-08-12 23:28:58 UTC

Okay, *I* will tell you to stop, please. We were having a respectful discussion with our international friend here.

2018-08-12 23:29:16 UTC

I I dont think those gaps account for the ammount people at the bottom have now compared to even 50 years ago

2018-08-12 23:29:36 UTC

99.9 percent of people in the US have a refrigerator

2018-08-12 23:30:04 UTC

this is a form of wealth that is not taken into account with so called "income Inequality"

2018-08-12 23:30:36 UTC

@Capitán Alatriste The 'gap' isn't necessarily even a bad thing. It's *good* that the bottom don't have a good chance to reach the top, because that means the top is that much higher

2018-08-12 23:31:07 UTC

If they could easily reach the top, then that would mean the difference between the two would be negligible

2018-08-12 23:32:48 UTC

It's like, a person making 15k/yr, going up to $150k a year is a HUGE increase, sure.

*But your 1% only makes $150k a year?* That's shameful.

2018-08-12 23:32:48 UTC

@DanConway refrigerators once a luxury are now a commodity. The income imequality refers mostly to the difference between the income the lower classes have vs the rise in prices. Not only that, but these wages are falling or not adjusting to price increase effectively making them poorer
