so maybe if you're not rebroadcasting them
it's weird
like, try torrenting a movie without a vpn and you get a cease and desist immediately, but tv shows are fair game
It's illegal to seed, its legal to download
at least that's the impression I have been under
for the past few years
aah so it's legal to be a bad pirate, but illegal to be a good one
I don't actually know but its also much easier to catch good pirates because uploads are a lot less common
never actually pirate but I go on those streaming websites that just have whole anime and cartoons on them
like kisscartoon
and kissanime
so you can easily track those people down
I'm pretty sure it's nigh impossible to stop people who get their shit from googling "watch "X" free online"
like fuck I'm paying for crunchyroll
they can suck it
in canada it is illegal to pirate anything, but no crime is commited untill you have amassed 5000dallars worth of theft from 1 entity.
"from 1 entity."?
then they can only sue you if it exceeds that
what does that mean
they sue for 5k?
how do they determine that
like
is each movie you pirate worth 20 bucks
or is it worth 100 bucks
so if you dl autodesk autocad no harm no foul they can sue you if you go on to make more then 5000 dollars using it
oh
they cant do anything untill it gets over 5k, the courts deem it not worth their time
good thing I got sony vegas off of that humble bundle sale
I don't think even 5k is worth your time
also, good thing I made like 17 cents off youtube in the last 10 years
that the min amount you can sue for in canada and they need to prove you did it which would require your ISP to rat you out which is also illegal for them to do
if you make a noticeable amount of money using autocad, any normal reasonable person would just buy it at that point
autocad is 800$ at a bargin
yeah
maya is a couple grand
but yes lets say you somehow stole 5k worth of Disney movies they could technialy go after you
but they need to prove you did this in an apempt to make money off the theft.
which is damn hard to do
so for all intents and purposes information pirating is legal in canada
I feel like you'd have to be inordinately dedicated in order to pirate that much disney
