Aye, double standards. Stems from two main problems, as far as I can tell. The lack of maturity to admit when they're wrong in the face of facts and the need to consider detractors from their views as not simply stupid or misguided but morally reprehensible. That latter thing is how religion insulates itself from other ideas, see the unbelievers as active villains.
I do wish they'd stop doing that, celebrities I mean. Like, talk about what you think and believe, no problem, but to act under the pretense that your audience considers you to be actual heroes? God it's painful.
Consequence of working in an insulated culture of huffing eachothers farts, I guess. That and the fact they have adoring, worshipping fans and are alienated by their stature from the ability to live a normal life, and thus making it extremely hard to have a grounded perspective on anything. They live in a different world.
